You woke me up.
You said
you were invited to a voodoo dance,
where you would be fed temaki
and served saki
in seaweed cones.
You woke me up.
You said
your body was glowing like a flame.
You said
you wanted to feel my veins inside you,
but you first had to know
if by tomorrow, it all still felt the same.
You woke me up.
You said
you were being chased
by blue shadows in your dreams.
You said
your mother would understand
why you didn’t scream.
And then you asked me to promise,
“Even if I were to say no,
You would always say yes?”
“Yes.”
I answered,
as I walked out of the scene.
