It was with great surprise and pleasure that I came across this article by my aunt, Janet Chesnut and uncle, Dr. Robert Chesnut. I remember fondly my conversations with Uncle Bob from as early as the age of sixteen, and which continued over the next decade. Particularly poignant are my memories of their tireless work to combat the ignorance and hatred that had welled up in communities in America as a result of the Gulf War (1990) with knowledge and tolerance. Such acts and conversations, which exemplified their ecumenical humanitarian approach to life and faith, were deeply formative for me and I am forever grateful for the perspectives they shared. I was, and continue to be blessed to call them members of my family.
