Yarkona, Hebrew for green, is the main character of the novel I have started writing - Because of Zǐhán.
Yarkona is inspired by several historical figures, metaphors, and images, including the Green Man (and the Green Woman) commonly depicted in sculptures as a face completely surrounded by, leaves; the Khidr of Islam, representing the divine manifestation of destiny on earth, and the universal symbol of fertility and rebirth. Fascinating parallels also exist in Chinese and east Asian spirituality.
