Awakening

You woke me up.

You said you were invited to a voodoo dance,

Where you would be fed temaki

And served saki in seaweed cones.

You woke me up.

You said my body was glowing like a flame.

You said you would make it your compass.

But you first had to know

If by tomorrow, it still felt the same.

You woke me up.

You said,

“I want to feel your veins inside me.”

“Kiss me.”

You said,

“Until your tongue and me

Give birth to something new

And my soul becomes a blanket to hide me.”

You woke me up.

You said you were exorcising blue wombs in your dreams.

And then you asked me to promise,

“Even if I were to say no,

You would always say yes?”

“Yes.”

I answered,

As your stunted love flowed between my seams.
