Minnie Clayton Rippey [Patterson]

(August, 1893 - September 1949)

Minnie was born August, 2893 in Pueblo, Colorado. Unlike her father who knew Kentucky well, she was one of the new Colorado Rippeys. Her ancestors lived and died in rural Winchester. She was born in an industrial city and her life was consistent with this new reality.
Our first source, a 1900 census, shows her at age 7 living with her family. Her father, however, the man who lead his family out of Kentucky, is not listed as one of the members of this household. Nor is her second eldest brother, William Gilkerson, who would have been 24. Her mother is 47, Winfeild, is 27, Cleo, is 22. Nolan is 21, and Shellie is 18.

In 1903, when Minie was 10, Pueblo city directory lists her as living with Winfield, and Shellie at 223 Summit.
